Bespoke: As good as it gets.

When you bought it, you really liked that soft, lumpy sweater or that gritty, punk tee, or may be that suit or crop top. And yet, you’ve never worn either of them. That piece of clothing you just had a few weeks back is hanging in your closet with the sales tag still thereon. Sound familiar?

We all do it—buy clothes that we wear once or twice and then demote push to the backs of our closets. It's an evil use of money and a mess. But with some consideration and self-control, you could easily stop “wasting” money and start buying clothes you'll actually wear.

Part of the fun of fashion is giving a try to entirely different personas and bending a little away from your usual uniform. But there's a difference in trying your hands on a new trend that still fits into your taste, and trying on something completely outside of your reach just because you see everyone else carrying it well.

Really Consider If You Have Something To Match It With

Do you have shoes to combine with that dress, do you have pants matching with that top, a blouse to match with that skirt? Although it's okay to take risks sometimes and buy something that might not fit into any combination you have in your wardrobe but, it's something else altogether if you keep buying such clothes that can't play well with what you already own.

Think of at least one (but ideally three!) outfits you can build with the piece in question before owning it.

Don't Let Yourself Buy "maybe" Items

You know those items you put and try on in the changing room, and upon turning around for the big mirror reveal, you think "meh." Save yourself the money and don't persuade yourself that maybe it will work if you layer on scarves and alter the skirt and completely amend your personality so you can wear it to that one barbecue in July.

Draw Up a Game Plan For Pieces That Are Outside Of Your Comfort Zone

Say there's a new trend you would like to dabble in, however you don’t have any idea what to do with it once you bring it into your closet, like trousers, crop tops, or high-waist pants. Before you start taking your credit card out to make the bill, really take an instant and think on how you'd like to style it. If you can't think of even one styling scenario, the clothe just might not be for you.

Lastly: Stop and Think Before You Buy

A research finds that 21 percent of people go shopping to relieve stress, especially at the holidays. We would suggest asking these three questions before you head to the checkout counter:

  1. Does it fit? If not, don’t buy it.
  2. Do you own something similar? If so, then you don’t need it.
  3. Where am I going to wear it in the next four weeks? No idea? Then maybe you should skip it.
